7 Top Tips for Health

1. Eat before you are hungry and drink before you are thirsty.

By having a more structured approach to eating you are less likely to overeat or binge on unhealthy snacks. Thirst is a terrible indicator that you need a drink, if you are thirsty it is however an indicator that you are starting to become dehydrated. Aim to make 2 litres per day your new base line.

2. Focus on 30 minutes of exercise per day.

A recent study revealed that walking 30 minutes per day could add an extra 18 years to your life. Let’s put this into perspective, 30 minutes per day equates to about 2% of the time available in your week.

3. Surround yourself with motivated people.

It is a well known Universal Law that you will end up most like the 5 closest people you spend your time with (health wise, financially etc), so take a look at the people you spend most of your time with and ask yourself if they have your definition of success.

4. Set realistic goals for yourself.

“A 1000 mile journey starts with one small step”. When setting goals for yourself make sure they are not so big that they are unachievable and may become de-motivating. Success will come from what you do on daily basis, not from one or two big efforts. You will be amazed at what you can achieve.

5. Remember to breath.

Breathing is not only a vital part of life but is also one of the easiest ways to distress your mind and body. If you find yourself becoming stressed, find a quiet (quieter) location, close your eyes and focus 100% of your attention on your breathing. Concentrate only on hearing, feeling and controlling your breathing. If your mind wanders, bring it back to concentrating on your breath. After 5 minutes you will feel less stressed, after 10 as if nothing has happened at all. Do as often as needed, no undue side effects.

6. Laugh lots (mostly at yourself).

Laughing is nature’s way of keeping you young. Don’t let life get so serious that there is no time for fun. When feeling down put yourself in a happy environment, rent a funny movie, call a funny friend, go to the park and listen to children laughing. Reconnect with the child inside on a weekly basis and do something to lift your spirits. Let your hair down and don’t take yourself too seriously. Ask yourself if would you prefer to hang out with the happy you or grumpy you, it’s only for the rest of your life.

7. Smile.

Enough said.
